3 Reasons to be Thankful for the Game of Golf

The Thanksgiving holiday is quickly approaching, and that means many of us will soon be enjoying amazing food, great sides, and decadent desserts like pumpkin or apple pie. When families gather together for Thanksgiving, time is often spent reflecting on what each person is thankful for. For the avid golfer out there, it’s fair to say the game of golf has given us all something to be thankful for, regardless of how frustrating a round can occasionally be. Here are three things about the game of golf we can be thankful for this year.

1.) Peaceful Escape From the Real World
Imagine the feeling you experience as you walk up to the first tee box and get ready to hit your first drive of the day. Pretty relaxing feeling, isn’t it? Regardless of how your first shot goes, you know that for the next three to four hours of your day will be spent strolling between trees, avoiding hazards, and enjoying the nice, cool breeze on your face. Those few hours out on the golf course provide you with a window of escape where the stresses of your job, relationship, or anything else are void.

2.) The Feeling of Keeping a Commitment
As humans, we sometimes are not able to fulfill every commitment we make. When it comes to the game of golf, though, it’s upon you to take time to practice your shots at the driving range, make your scheduled tee time, and finish out 18 holes of golf in the Warminster, PA area. The game of golf gives you the opportunity to keep commitments and feel good about yourself, too.

3.) A Goal to Strive For
The game of golf provides countless people around the world with an activity that pushes them to constantly be better. Each swing made, putt read, and club selected gives you the opportunity to improve upon it for the next time. Many golfers feel that their score after 18 holes defines them as a golfer, but even the pros have room for improvement. What’s great about the game of golf is that it always makes you come back to try to achieve a better score.

Spring Mill Country Club is the best place to golf near Richboro, and memberships are currently available. Don’t miss out on your chance to drive a few down the fairways of one the premier Bucks County golf courses.

As the temperature begins to cool off, and early morning tee times start off colder and colder, that means the golf off-season is quickly approaching. With all of the four major tournaments completed and the FedEx Cup awarded, it’s easy for golfers to feel a little bit of sadness as a break from their favorite game looms on the horizon. However, just because you may not be able to get out and play 18 as often as you could during June or July, it doesn’t mean you have to take a total break from your golf game. Here are three ideas on how you can practice your swing to keep you in golf form during the off-season:

3 Ideas on How to Practice Your Golf Swing During the Off-Season

As the temperature begins to cool off, and early morning tee times start off colder and colder, that means the golf off-season is quickly approaching. With all of the four major tournaments completed and the FedEx Cup awarded, it’s easy for golfers to feel a little bit of sadness as a break from their favorite game looms on the horizon. However, just because you may not be able to get out and play 18 as often as you could during June or July, it doesn’t mean you have to take a total break from your golf game. Here are three ideas on how you can practice your swing to keep you in golf form during the off-season:

  1.  Practice Putting

Everyone knows the old saying, drive for show, putt for dough. If you are a dedicated golfer, you know just how true this is, especially if you’ve seen it in your own game. Practicing putting in the privacy of your own home is one of the easiest things you can do during the off-season. All you need to do is pick a target on your carpet and practice your technique. It’s not hard to get 50 to 60 putts a day while watching television and lounging around.

  1. Practice Chipping

Believe it or not, you can still practice your chipping game inside your home once the weather get colder. You obviously want to give yourself a sufficient amount of space, but chipping practice can be as easy by either using a couch to chip onto or using the staircase in your home to help practice distance.

  1. Practice Full Swing

Unless you have a driving net set up, you won’t be able to truly practice your drive. That’s not an excuse to not work on your technique. If you have a mirror in your home, you can watch yourself from the beginning of your backswing, wrist hinge, and follow through. If you are lucky enough to live in an area that has an indoor driving range, it’s always beneficial to take a couple of real-time swings to keep the cobwebs off.

If you are playing your last couple rounds of the season at Spring Mill Country Club, don’t forget to grab a bite to eat at our restaurant in Southampton, PA afterward. Also, if you or someone you know is looking to book an outdoor wedding venue in Bucks County, Spring Mill Country Club offers a beautiful location for anybody’s special day.
